I couldn't seem to get my 1800ES project running, so a good friend of mine who has some experience with restoration took the car from me to work on it.

I ran into him Friday night and he told me they got it running instantly . He said I forgot to connect the spark plug wires to the plugs...

However, I am not that stupid, contrary to popular belief. I most definitely connected them (though they were disconnected when he got the car from me).

So I have no idea how it started running. BUT IT RUNS! 1800ES LIVES!

But he also told me that only one of the brakes was operational and they're going to fix them up before they return the car to me.

Hopefully I get to see my baby soon - I put so much time and work (and money...) into getting this thing running.

Have a picture of not my 1800ES.

That's great! That's got a B20 engine right? One time my distributor cap popped off while I was driving. Of course the engine immediately stopped, but I couldn't get the thing running again after putting it back on. It took me hours, but I finally figured out that the distributor rotated when the cap popped off changing the ignition timing drastically. I got out the old timing light and made it right.

Yup! B20F engine. I didn't realize the cap popping off could make such a significant change! :O What car do you have with the B20?

EDIT: stupid question. I assume it's a 142.

It's possible the adjustment bolt was a bit loose, but yep, it rotated to the stop.

It was a 142, a looong time ago. I'm on the lookout for another one though.

I found a pic! I got hit by a drunk driver in a Dodge van.
